SASCHA BROWN RICE

Sascha Brown Rice is an award-winning filmmaker, teacher, and author of the best-selling book, The Story Cycle Method: A Practical Playbook For Writers and Dreamers. With over twenty-five years in the industry, she draws on a unique constellation of experiences and provides clients access to a wealth of knowledge. In her capacity as a creative coach and story consultant, she mentors both experienced writers who seek to rekindle their creative fire and emerging storytellers just beginning their writing journey.
 
In addition to being a published author, Ms. Rice has written, directed, and produced a range of projects. Her Emmy-nominated documentary California State of Mind aired on public television and streamed on Netflix. Her romantic comedy 'Mango Kiss' screened internationally; the feature film went on to win multiple honors and streamed on several platforms. Her producing projects include the feature film “Solace,” the transmedia series "Black Kung Fu Chick," and the short film "Basurero." She has served as the consulting producer on over eighty short documentary projects for the Big Tell Film Festival.

In addition to her production background, Rice worked as the Global Marketing Director for the motion picture division at Eastman Kodak. As part of the executive leadership team, Rice amplified Kodak’s visibility with innovative collaborations and strategic partnerships. Rice supported marketing initiatives for an array of projects including commercials, music videos, fine art museum pieces, and notable television and feature films (including the blockbusters "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and indie favorites like "The Hateful 8" and Academy Award-winners like "La La Land.") Rice expanded the social media presence of Kodak's iconic brand and created lasting impact by rebuilding their Scholarship program. 
 
Driven by a passion for making art and making a difference, Rice works across genres and formats in both scripted and unscripted content creation. In the spirit of commitment to social impact and community engagement, she serves as Chair of the Board of the Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs at Cal State LA.   
 
Ms. Rice studied in the career training division at the American Film Institute and received a Bachelor of Arts from Hampshire College. She has appeared on television, radio, podcasts, and enjoys speaking engagements.
